I'm 41 years old and I've done 5 years flat in the Texas prison system, to go along with some state jail and fed time. My family wasn't there for me much whenever I was incarcerated, and my so called friends were gone before I even left the County, so I didn't have much support. When I was in prison doing my 5, I was blessed along the way by a church group and a few strangers, plus it was a life changing experience for me. Even though I'm out now, I haven't forgotten what that loneliness and yearning for an outside connection feels like. I know what it's like anticipating mail call Monday thru Saturday hoping to hear your name being called, but knowing that chances are that it won't. Alot of us(convicts) get out then forget all about that, we forget about the ones who helped pass our time and made it easier to forget about the ones who forgot about us while we were inside. I'm out here now, but I'm thinking about my brothers and sisters who are still inside waiting on their day. I want to be here for you all like I wanted someone to be there for me. I'm someone who can relate and know what you're going through because I've been there and back. We're all family so I don't judge, anybody who wants to talk or write I'm here for you.
